Connect to Deka Drive via Dekstop

The desktop application allows you to access and synchronize files on Deka Drice. You can install the Deka Drive desktop application on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux operating systems. For Linux, you can use AppImage. The following are the minimum system requirements for using the Deka Drive desktop application.

  • Ubuntu (Ubuntu 23.10, Ubuntu 23.04, Ubuntu 22.04 LTS)

Installation on Windows

To install the Deka Drive desktop application on your computer, visit address and press Download for Windows to download the desktop application with the Windows operating system. Wait until the download process is complete.

Install the application on your computer, and click the Next button until the installation process is complete.

After successfully pairing the application to your computer, run the application on your computer.

Enter the username and password used by your account, and click the Next button for the synchronization process. If the process is successful then You're all set!.

In the desktop application to display your synced files, press the 3 vertical dots button and select Show in Explorer to open the synced folder on your computer.

Installation on macOS

For installation on macOS and Windows the same as any software application. On the downloaded application, double-click to display the installation window, and follow the installation wizard.

Installation on Linux

This section will explain installing desktop applications with the Linux operating system. This section will explain installation via GUI using AppImage and installation via terminal which is explained on each Debian, Fedora, openSUSE, and Ubuntu distributor.

To run desktop applications using AppImage, there are limitations you need to know about AppImage, including:

  • Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 11, and other recent distributions, you need to install libfuse2. In the terminal on your computer, you can check libfuse2 by entering the syntax.

dpkg -l libfuse2

If libfuse2 is not installed, then enter the following syntax.

sudo apt install libfuse2
curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/owncloud/client-desktop-install-shell-integration/main/install-extensions.sh | bash -s - --auto

The first time you open a downloaded file, press twice then under Open with select AppImage Launcher and press the OK button.

The first time you run AppImage Launcher, you will be asked to specify some basic settings.

Installation on Linux: Debian

Before installing the desktop application, make sure you have updated the public key used on your Linux operating system to ensure that the system uses a valid key to verify the packages that will be installed on your computer. Enter the following syntax in your terminal with the Debian distributor system.

sudo apt-key adv --refresh-keys --keyserver keyring.debian.org    

The following are the steps for adding a repository and installing it manually on the Debian 12 and Debian 11 distributor:

  • For the first step you need to update download the public key from the OwnCloud Client server and then decompress the key, and then add it to the list of keys trusted by the Debian system.

If using the Debian 12 distributor, enter the following syntax.

wget -nv https://download.owncloud.com/desktop/ownCloud/stable/latest/linux/Debian_12/Release.key -O - | gpg --sayang | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/owncloud-client.gpg > /dev/null

If using the Debian 11 distributor, enter the following syntax.

wget -nv https://download.owncloud.com/desktop/ownCloud/stable/latest/linux/Debian_11/Release.key -O - | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/owncloud-client.gpg > /dev/null
  • Run a command of the following syntax to update the repository and install the apt-transport-https package to use the HTTPS protocol.

sudo apt update
sudo apt install apt-transport-https
  • Run a command of the following syntax to download the owncloud-client.list package and add the package to the repository configuration file.

If using Debian 12 distributor then run this syntax.

echo 'deb https://download.owncloud.com/desktop/ownCloud/stable/latest/linux/Debian_12/ /' | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/owncloud-client.list

If using Debian 11 distributor then run this syntax.

echo 'deb https://download.owncloud.com/desktop/ownCloud/stable/latest/linux/Debian_11/ /' | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/owncloud-client.list
  • Run the following syntax to update the list of packages in the repository because you have downloaded owncloud-client.list and installed the owncloud-client application on the system.

sudo apt update
sudo apt install owncloud-client

Installation on Linux: Fedora

The following is how to add a repository and install it manually for Fedora 39 or Fedora 38 distributors:

  • For the first step you need to update download the public key from the OwnCloud Client server and then decompress the key, and then add it to the list of keys trusted by the Fedora system.

If using Fedora 39 distributor, enter execute the following syntax.

sudo rpm --import https://download.owncloud.com/desktop/ownCloud/stable/latest/linux/Fedora_39/repodata/repomd.xml.key

If using Fedora 38 distributor, enter execute the following syntax.

sudo rpm --import https://download.owncloud.com/desktop/ownCloud/stable/latest/linux/Fedora_38/repodata/repomd.xml.key
  • For the next step, download the desktop application.

If using Fedora 39 distributor, enter execute the following syntax.

sudo dnf config-manager --add-repo https://download.owncloud.com/desktop/ownCloud/stable/latest/linux/Fedora_39/owncloud-client.rep

If using Fedora 38 distributor, enter execute the following syntax.

sudo dnf config-manager --add-repo https://download.owncloud.com/desktop/ownCloud/stable/latest/linux/Fedora_38/owncloud-client.repo
  • Run the following syntax to update the list of packages in the repository because you have downloaded and installed the owncloud-client.repo package on your computer system.

sudo dnf clean all
sudo dnf install owncloud-client
sudo dnf upgrade owncloud-client

Installation on Linux: openSUSE

The following are the steps for adding a repository and installing it manually on the openSUSE Leap 15.5 and openSUSE Leap 15.4 distributors:

  • For the first step you need to update download the public key from the OwnCloud Client server and then decompress the key, and then add it to the list of keys trusted by the openSUSE system.

If using the openSUSE LEAP 15.5 distributor, enter the following syntax.

sudo rpm --import https://download.owncloud.com/desktop/ownCloud/stable/latest/linux/openSUSE_Leap_15.5/repodata/repomd.xml.key

If using the openSUSE LEAP 15.4 distributor, enter the following syntax.

sudo rpm --import https://download.owncloud.com/desktop/ownCloud/stable/latest/linux/openSUSE_Leap_15.4/repodata/repomd.xml.key
  • Execute the following syntax to add the OwnCloud Client repository to the system using the zypper package manager.

If using the openSUSE LEAP 15.5 distributor, enter the following syntax.

sudo zypper addrepo https://download.owncloud.com/desktop/ownCloud/stable/latest/linux/openSUSE_Leap_15.5/owncloud-client.repo

If using the openSUSE LEAP 15.4 distributor, enter the following syntax.

sudo zypper addrepo https://download.owncloud.com/desktop/ownCloud/stable/latest/linux/openSUSE_Leap_15.4/owncloud-client.repo
  • Run the following syntax to update the list of packages in the repository because you have downloaded and installed the owncloud-client.repo package on your computer system.

sudo zypper refresh
sudo zypper install owncloud-client

Installation on Linux: Ubuntu

Before installing the desktop application, make sure you have updated the public key used on your Linux operating system to ensure that the system uses a valid key to verify the packages that will be installed on your computer. If your computer uses the Ubuntu distributor, enter the following syntax in your terminal.

sudo apt-key adv --refresh-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com

The following are the steps for adding repositories and installing manually on Ubuntu 23.10, Ubuntu 23.04, and 22.04 distributors:

  • For the first step you need to update download the public key from the OwnCloud Client server and then decompress the key, and then add it to the list of keys trusted by the Ubuntu system.

If using the Ubuntu 23.10 distributor, enter the following syntax.

  • Run a command of the following syntax to add the repository and install the apt-transport-https package to use the HTTPS protocol.

  • Run the following syntax to update the list of packages in the repository because you have downloaded owncloud-client.list and installed the owncloud-client application on the system.

sudo apt update
